Archives for October 2015
You are the happiest little man I know. You are full of smiles and laughter. You are rarely unhappy or causing a fuss. I truly appreciate your super laid back go with the flow attitude towards life. It makes my job as a Mommy of four so much easier.
But it is time for a little heart to heart. Mommy needs sleep. I know that you find me to be extremely fun and lovable, but I promise you I am even more fun and lovable when I am well rested. I know that the world around you is so stimulating and exciting that you are hesitant to miss a moment during the day to take time to eat. But eating during the day makes life much more enjoyable for all. And it allows you to sleep well at night because you have a full tummy. You have no trouble falling asleep during the day. I know you can do it!
So let’s make a deal…you start sleeping well at night and I will buy you a pony.
All my love,
Monday: Tomato Soup & Grilled Cheese
I made this delicious tomato soup recipe after my friend, Laura, recommended it. It is delicious! I paired the soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. The girls brought home some fresh rustic country bread from the bakery next door to their ballet class…it made the perfect grilled cheese.
Tuesday: Chicken Spaghetti
Chicken spaghetti is one of the children’s favorites. I couldn’t find the exact recipe I use online, but here is a similar one.
Wednesday: Salmon, Rice, and Broccoli
Quick and easy dinner of baked salmon with a little dill seasoning, steamed broccoli, and jasmine rice.
Malcolm grilled burgers for the himself and the kids while I went out to dinner with a friend.
Friday: One Pot Zucchini Mushroom Pasta
I love a dinner that cooks in one pot! This was a new recipe we tried and it was great. I made ours with whole wheat pasta. I was worried that it would get pasty, but it turned out fine.
We have a busy week filled with several nights out coming up so I am planning super simple dinners for the nights we will be at home. What’s on your meal plan this week?
Monday: Grilled Chicken, Broccoli, and Butternut Squash
Simple and quick dinner of grilled chicken and roasted veggies. Madeleine and Malcolm both LOVE broccoli so we have it often!
Tuesday: Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken
Tuesdays are busy for us so I thought it was the perfect day to try a slow cooker meal. I saw this recipe on Pinterest and thought it looked good (and pretty!). It was super easy to make and the chicken was very tender, but I thought it was a little too lemony. I want to make it again, but dial back the amount of lemon juice and see how it is. For sides we had, avocado & tomato salad, quinoa & brown rice, and brussel sprouts.
Wednesday: Pork Loin, Broccoli, and Mac & Cheese
Tonight we had a roasted pork loin seasoned with salt and pepper. For sides we had broccoli (I told you we have it often!) and mac & cheese. We used to have mac & cheese a handful of times a year, but in a moment of weakness the kids convinced me to buy some at Costco…we have been working our way through the box.
Thursday: Chicken Pot Pie
This is one of the family’s favorites and I don’t mind because it is filled with lots of veggies.
Friday: Slow Cooker Sticky Chicken Wings
A friend of mine mentioned that she made these wings recently and they sounded so good we gave them a try. I have tried several recipes from Damn Delicious and they all have been great! You should check out Chungah’s recipes…I am sure you will find several you will love.
I absolutely love checking out which products other people are loving at the moment so I thought I would share a few of my own.
These pretty ladies made their debut last spring and it just dawned on me that I have been wearing them non-stop since I bought them. I cannot stop collecting them. I have Fab Pop, Sweet Pop, Bare Pop, Beige Pop, Love Pop, and I just picked up Berry Pop. Love Pop and Berry Pop are great for Fall!
I just stumbled across this product in Sephora one day while I was checking out the Clinique Pop Lip Colours and I am so glad I did. This is a sheer, lightweight liquid that conceals imperfections. It is great for “no makeup” days or for those who don’t like to wear makeup, but want a little coverage. I have found that patting it on with my fingers gives the best coverage and finish. This product is not a treatment for acne…it is just marketed towards those who may have a tendency of breaking out. I have fairly normal skin and have really enjoyed using this product. I wear the shade Light.
This helps me have a good hair day every day! I apply this cream from root to tip before blowing my hair dry and it helps me achieve a smooth, sleek, shiny style with just enough volume at the roots. I love that it is so light weight that I am able to skip a few washes without looking greasy. You need to try this stuff!
BaubleBar Cape Town Bracelet Set
I wear this bracelet set All.The.Time. Unfortunately, it is no longer available, but here are a few other sets that are perfect for Fall. Storm Bracelet Trio and the Glitter Bracelet Trio. If you aren’t familiar with BaubleBar check out this post.
This is the perfect tote! It is divided into two sections by a zippered section in the middle. Great for carrying around your everyday stuff, work files, or even as a diaper bag. I carried this bag all summer and it fit my necessities as well as John’s perfectly. I am thinking about ordering one in a Fall color. I love that you can personalize the bags too!
While packing up our family of six for Italy I renewed my love affair with packing cubes. They are perfect for keeping everyone’s stuff organized while maximizing space. I wrote a whole post about them here.
What have you been loving lately?
