The girls and Malcolm have headed back to school!
My kids are not morning people (amen!), but that makes school days a struggle. Over the last few years I have shared some routines we have put in place that make getting ready for school fairly painless in the morning. We are able to get all 4 children up, fed, dressed, and strapped in the car in 45 minutes or less on school mornings. Along with having some basic routines in place we do not allow any play time until they are completely ready to head out the door. Some days there is time to play or to read a book and other days we barely make it in the car on time, but following the same routine each morning really helps everyone get ready for the day.
Our morning routine looks something like this:
- Wake up children
- Children grab their pre-selected clothing and bring downstairs
- Potty time
- Children dress themselves all the way to their shoes
- Brush teeth/hair
- Out the door
