Last summer I read a post on a photography website about someone who had shot one second videos of her daily life every day for a year and then compiled them into a video. I thought this was a brilliant idea! I don’t know about you, but I have tried doing a 365 photography project several times, but I have never been able to finish. I usually end up getting frustrated with my photos or forget to take a photo for several days and give up a month or so in. But for some reason this video project seemed more up my alley. For some reason I didn’t feel the same pressure to have a perfect video clip as I did to have the perfect photograph everyday.
I decided to take on this project in August (it was too good to wait until the beginning of 2017). Almost all of the clips were shot using my iPhone because that is the camera that I have with me all the time. At the end of each month I would save my favorite clip from each day into a file on my desktop. Then using, iMovie I would cut down each clip into one second snippets and then compile them all in sequential order. Then I would add some music and a title slide and I was down for the month. To make the year long video I just cut and paste the clips from the monthly videos into a new project. Easy peasy! The key is to make sure you select a song that is long enough for 365 seconds of video plus title slides.
This project makes me so happy! I love looking back at a tiny glimpse of our year. I hope you enjoy it too. Plus it is a great way to get all those videos off my computer and actually view them! I am planning on making another one second video again this year. Who wants to join me?
