My dearest Malcolm,
Today, you are three. Three! How did that happen so fast? You have grown so much over the past year. Although you are often referred to as “Baby Mac,” you are far from a baby. You have grown into a fun loving little boy. You love to laugh, sing, play with your sisters, bring John toys, cook with Mommy, and be silly. You like to do things your own way and in your own time.
You are always offering to help. You are so kind and helpful. When someone is hurt, you always check to see if they are okay. You are the first to come running with the ice for someone’s boo boo.
You love the color orange. You are always hungry. Some of your favorite things to eat are cheese, chicken pot pie, fish, sandwiches, apples, broccoli, and granola bars. You love going to music class, playing outside, swimming, and going on adventures with Daddy. Your favorite toys are trains, cars, and airplanes. You enjoy being around animals. You love firetrucks! Whenever you hear a firetruck’s sirens, you shout as loud as you can, “FIRETRUCK!!!!,” just in case those around you were not able to hear it coming.
You enjoy it when Mommy sings to you and often request songs before bed “again, again.” You were so excited when John recently began sharing a room with you. Seeing you be so sweet to your brother just melts my heart.
In a few days you will be joining your sisters in the same class at school. You have been waiting forever to be in the girls’ class. You cannot wait to walk in to school with your sisters. You want to do whatever your sisters are doing. I cannot wait to see how being in class together unfolds. Alexandra and Madeleine enjoy mothering you…I wonder how long before you declare your independence at school? I am pretty sure it will not take long until you are telling them to “leave your work alone.”
I cannot wait to see how you change over the next year. I love you more than you can ever imagine. You are my sunshine!
