On the eve of your fifth birthday I sit and reminesce over this past year of your life. You have grown so much in such a short time. You are no longer the adorable little toddler, but rather a beautiful young girl. Your thoughtfulness, tenacity, and exuberance for life amaze me daily. Your sister and brothers are so lucky to have a big sister that looks out for them the way you do.
This past year you learned to swim, ride your bike without training wheels, and tie your shoes. You are fearless, which scares Mommy at times, but you are always able to pick yourself up and try again. This quality earned you a place on the trampoline and tumbling team. The coach said you caught her attention when she saw you fearlessly jump into the pit…she said you have impressive “air awareness.” You love to swim, dance, play soccer, and do gymnastics…you are always up for a new adventure.
You love to learn. Whether it be at home, school, or around town…you are always interested in knowing everything about whatever it is you see. You love to ask questions. “Why” is your favorite question. And as much as it drives me insane when you have asked “why” for the 1000th time in the car, I love the fact that you are curious.
Your favorite foods are cheese hamburgers with pickles only, tortellini, smoked salmon, and kale chips. Your favorite color is blue. You love to wear jeans, mesh athletic shorts, and tennis shoes. You have a love for gardening. You are so pleased when your garden yields food. Some of your favorite things to grow are tomatoes, kale, melon, cucumbers, basil, and mint.
You love being a big sister. You are so patient with your sister and brothers. After John was born you wanted to hold him all the time. You would have held him for hours if I let you. You are a proud big sis. It melts my heart to see you walk hand in hand into school with your sister.
I am so proud to be your Mommy. I will never forget the moment you came into this world and made me a mother. I never knew my heart could be so full. You make me happy. You make my heart smile. Every single day. Thank you for all the joy you bring into my life. Your smile, giddy laugh, hugs, kisses, and love make me so happy. You will always be my baby and I will love you forever. Happy birthday my sweet girl.
