A few months before his birthday I started scouring the internet for airplane party ideas and started compiling them on my Pinterest board.
I ordered these cute digital invitations from Oodles and Doodles on Etsy. You can even order a party package that includes items like thank you notes, birthday banner, welcome sign, cupcake toppers, etc. Bridget’s designs are great and she sent the digital proof and files over within an hour of my order placement.
The menu consisted of pizza and cake as well as these cute little “in-flight meals” I put together for the children. Each contained grapes, applesauce, and goldfish. They were perfect to tide the kids over while they waited for the pizza to arrive. I made an airplane shaped smash cake following this tutorial I found on Pinterest.
Other party details included a first birthday “chalkboard”poster that I created in Photoshop. Any interest in a tutorial? It was really quite easy. Using a large piece of cardboard cut into a number one I made a collage of Malcolm’s first year photos. I also made a an airplane out of cardboard boxes to use as a photo prop. Malcolm loved “flying” his airplane. And of course, I had to make him an appliquéd airplane party shirt. I found the design here.
We had the best time celebrating Malcolm’s first year. I cannot wait to celebrate many more together! Here’s a few more photos from the big day. Oh, and his cute little pilot hat is from here.
