Ok, I know this post is long overdue. I am sure you are curious how I did with the 31 Day Organization Challenge. You can read about the challenge here.
Overall, I thought the challenge was a success and allowed me to clean up a few neglected or low priority areas like sorting through wrapping paper and sweaters. On the other hand, since I am fairly organized many of the tasks did not really apply to me, like clean out your car or under the bed. I really just need to focus on a few high traffic areas and that secret closet of mine- ha!
I did get the countertop in our butler’s pantry cleared off. This is a daily feat as it is a hot spot in our house. I have a plan to make it more of a mudroom/organized drop zone in the near future.
But, I think the thing I learned the most throughout this process is that I am too hard on myself. The world is not going to stop if there are piles of paper on the countertop or toys strewn about the floor.
I have had this quote on my computer since Alexandra was born. I can’t remember the source for it but if I find it I will add it, sorry! It is a great reminder of what is really important.
Here are a few photos from the some of the tasks I completed like clean out one drawer, sort through wrapping paper, sort through sweaters, and clean out your purse.
If you need help to get organized and don’t know where to start I highly recommend completing Peter Walsh’s 31 Day Challenge. There is even one from 2013, too. I know I will be joining in next January when he posts the one for 2015.
What’s your favorite organizing tip?
