Brainspotting is a therapeutic technique used to help people access, process, and resolve trauma, emotional pain, and other psychological challenges. Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, brainspotting operates on the premise that where you look affects how you feel.
During a brainspotting session, a therapist helps the client focus on a specific point in their visual field (called a "brainspot") that corresponds to areas in the brain where traumatic memories or unresolved emotions are stored. By holding this gaze, the client can process deeply buried emotions and sensations, often leading to significant emotional release and healing.
